Compassionate

Communication

Communication is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s getting back to you with lab results, providing an update on your horse’s condition after a referral; educating you on your horse’s diagnosis and options for treatment; or helping make the hard decisions for you and your horse during difficult and stressful times.

Feel Confident

THAT YOU CAN COUNT ON US

ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY.

While you may not see your routine vet, another equally skilled vet will be available for your call.

As a busy horse owner, you don’t need to be at an appointment unless you want to be. It’s common practice for us to meet with barn managers and trainers for multiple horses in one visit. We will communicate our findings with them but are also happy to answer any questions about the visit with you.

TAEM has the experience and capabilities for the veterinary management of your large competition stable with accurate diagnoses, regenerative modalities, alternative therapies - such as chiropractic and acupuncture, and managed routine care.

Keep your sport horses happy, healthy, and performing in the ribbons!

SERVING NORTH ATLANTA SPORT HORSE OWNERS

For More Than 30 Years

You Need a Veterinary Team You Can Trust

I’m Dr. Todd Thompson and I built this practice to deliver exceptional veterinary services that emphasize compassionate care specifically designed to meet the unique demands of the competitive sport horse.

With more than 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine, I am still active in all aspects of the practice I built. It has been a joy to assemble this team of talented veterinarians who share my vision of a collaborative approach to sport horse veterinary care.

Each veterinarian in the team is highly skilled and experienced, and just as my passion and expertise is diagnosing and treating equine lameness, they each have areas of interest. Together, we can deliver exceptional care to our clients and provide some services they would be hard-pressed to find in one practice.

Ultimately, our goal is to keep your sport horse competitive and happily doing the job he loves for many years to come.

COMPASSION, EXPERIENCE, SKILL

What Makes Thompson & Associates Equine Medicine Different?

Results

Driven

Services

Extensive

We strive to find you the right answers with thorough workups and accurate diagnostics. Our skilled veterinarians work together as a team, and when cases are more complex,  we have an extensive list of exceptional referral facilities.

Holistic

Care

In addition to routine preventative care, we offer thorough lameness workups and treatments, leading-edge regenerative modalities, ophthalmology, neurology, reproduction services, and complimentary therapies like spinal manipulation and acupuncture. Each vet may have more than one focus or advanced certification. Click here, to find the right one for you.

We know you are interested in treating the whole puzzle - not one piece alone, that’s why we look at the entire horse when creating treatment and long-range maintenance plans – which may include regenerative modalities, joint injections or complimentary therapies, such as spinal manipulation and acupuncture.

Teamwork

Our vets meet weekly to discuss client needs and happily cover for each other when needed so that you never have to worry about finding another vet in an emergency.

Collaborative
Communication

To provide the best possible outcome for your horse, it’s often necessary to include all the professionals integral to your horse’s care; including your trainer, farrier, and stable manager. The best results come when your horse is managed by an informed team.

We want you to be well-educated and informed about your horse’s medical diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care. We are dedicated to ensuring that you know each step your horse may encounter on his medical journey.

While we know that the process can take time to provide a diagnosis, we will maintain contact with you the entire time. And if we’ve exhausted the options available, you’ll be referred to the appropriate veterinary facility to keep your horse on the path to wellness.

SEAMLESS CARE FROM ROUTINE VISITS TO EMERGENCIES

As a client of TAEM for the past 10 years, I can say we are beyond satisfied. Working with this team of veterinarians is seamless. We love our dedicated vet but when an emergency arises with a horse, we know that we get the same level of care with the on-call vet. We appreciate fast emergency responses and how the vets take their time with our horses. They are clearly horse people!

“We appreciate fast emergency responses…”

I admire that each TAEM vet pursues continuing education and embraces alternative therapies. We appreciate how the vets are able to provide treatment options with tremendous empathy for the horse and also for us too. TAEM vets are always clear and direct. We have tremendous confidence and faith in them, knowing they will refer us to the university when it is appropriate.

Thank you TAEM for being fantastic!
