Todd Thompson, DVM, CERP
Dr. Todd Thompson has been one of north Georgia’s most respected and trusted equine veterinarians since he began his veterinary career over 30 years ago in May of 1988. Dr. Thompson is active in all aspects of the practice, but his passion and expertise are for diagnosing and treating equine lameness. Dr. Thompson concentrates on working with his clients to develop the best treatment plan. He stays abreast of the ever-evolving science of sport horse medicine; yet, he remains grounded in understanding the balance between the horse's performance and the rider's ambitions. He has helped hundreds of horses, and thereby their owners and riders, stay competitive. Dr. Thompson is equine rehabilitation and performance certified.

Todd Thompson grew up in Douglasville, Georgia and began riding horses at a very early age. He competed with his horse, McCloud in competitive trail riding and in endurance trail riding through high school. Todd has four children, Parker, Sterling, Connor and Madison and lives in Canton, Georgia with his wife Allison.
Todd attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and The University of Georgia College of Agriculture graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Todd began his veterinary career with Northwest Veterinary Services before forming Equine Medical Associates, Inc. with Dr. David Pugh in September 1988.
Todd formed Thompson and Associates Equine Medicine, LLC in June 2017.
Veterinarian
Jennifer Melcher, DVM, CERP, CVA
Dr. Jennifer Melcher is active in all aspects of equine veterinary medicine with an emphasis on dentistry, ophthalmology, acupuncture, and general medicine. Dr. Melcher began working with Dr. Thompson in 2006, and she is equine rehabilitation and performance certified. She received her acupuncture certification from The Chi Institute.
Jennifer received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia College of Arts and Sciences and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Jennifer completed an internship in large animal medicine at the University of Georgia in 2006.
Jennifer is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and began riding horses at the age of seven. She lives in Ball Ground, Georgia with her husband Evan and their sons Nate and Ezra. You can find her competing in the dressage ring with her horses Abe and Bulgari.

Veterinarian
Christine Murray, DVM, CERP, CEVMM
Dr. Christine Murray is active in all aspects of equine veterinary medicine with an emphasis on ultrasonography, sport horse medicine, and veterinary manipulation (chiropractic). Dr. Murray began working with Dr. Thompson in 2012 and is equine rehabilitation and performance certified. She received her certification for spinal manipulation from the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute.
Christine completed her undergraduate studies at North Georgia College and State University in 2005 and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She completed an internship in larger animal medicine at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Christine had the honor of working alongside the racetrack veterinarian at Churchill Downs during a running of the Kentucky Derby and represented the University of Georgia Veterinary program during the 2010 World Equestrian Games held in Lexington, Kentucky. Christine was the head of the veterinary student volunteer program at the 2018 World Equestrian Games held in Tryon, North Carolina.

Christine grew up in Bridgewater, New Jersey and began riding at a very early age. It came as no surprise that Christine became an Equine veterinarian, as her mother was attending a horse show when she went into labor!
As a junior rider, Christine showed in the hunter and equitation rings. She lives in Ball Ground, Georgia with her husband Arthur and their daughter Audrey.

Andrea Shuck, DVM
A native of central Ohio, Dr. Andrea Shuck earned her DVM at The Ohio State University in 2006. Her professional focus is sports medicine and lameness. Prior to joining the Thompson and Associates team, she spent over a decade practicing at Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racetracks in Louisiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, where she honed her skills and developed a love for the unique atmosphere and community of the backstretch.
Outside of work, Dr. Andrea enjoys exploring the beautiful northern Georgia countryside, railfanning, traveling, musical theatre, and photography (check out her racetrack photo albums on Facebook at “Andrea Shuck DVM”). She relaxes at home by stargazing and bird watching with her cat, Abbey.

Katie Cave

With a degree in Criminal Justice as well as extensive training and work experience in medical billing and office management, Katie Cave is well qualified to keep our office and our team running efficiently and smoothly. Katie joined TAEM in 2017 and is a vital component of Thompson and Associates Equine Medicine, LLC.
Katie lives in Ball Ground, Georgia with her husband Jimmy and their daughter Olivia.

Veterinary Technician
Nicole Evans
Nicole is originally from upstate New York. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from St. Lawrence University and became a licensed veterinary technician in 2008. Nicole currently lives in Marietta with her husband, 3 children and 2 dogs. She also enjoys owning and managing a horse farm in Kennesaw where their 2 ponies live.
